More than pleased! - October 2016 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
We loved our stay in this house. My parents and sister with her husband stayed downstairs and were comfortable and our family of 5 was upstairs. The hot tub was a highlight and got used every day. Everything was more spacious and bright than it even seems on the photos. Everything was clean and neat. And everything was as described online. I have to add that I was impressed by the nice blankets, linens and pillows. I love my own bed and pillow and was prepared to deal with whatever but I was pleasantly surprised by their nice blankets, duvet covers and soft and large pillows. The kitchen was very well stocked. The binders were full of information about the house and the attractions in the area. We loved the location so close to the ocean entry of lava. The 8 mile round trip on bike was totally worth it to see that lava flow into the ocean at sunset. Amazing! We were in touch with the house-keeper who allowed us to come in earlier on the arrival day and stay later on the leaving day which greatly accommodated us. We arrived on a Wednesday and were able to head over to Uncle Awa's place and see the dancers, hear the music and experience the authentic Hawaiian festivities at no charge!!! We would come back in a heartbeat and I would recommend it to all my friends! It was a pleasure to work with Derryn and Angela. Thank you so much for sharing your home!! Blessings.”
Everything was PERFECT! - September 2016 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Location of the house was great. Contact with the owner was great. View was great. Amenities were great. Proximity to the ocean was great. Hot tub was great. I can't think of one single negative thing to say about this place. Binders filled with suggestions of things to do were great. If you have not figured it out, I really liked the place and will definitely be returning.”
AMAZING! - August 2016 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
This house is in a fantastic location, a 5 minute drive to the lava hike (must see!), and walking distance to Uncle's. Tide pools and Hilo are half hour away, Volcanoes National Park is about an hour drive, and Mauna Kea is about 1.5 hours away. There was plenty of space and the hot tub is awesome, especially for stargazing. The house is very private, and you can see fields of lava and the sea from the beautiful upstairs balcony. And geckos- they're everywhere! We loved them. It was a comfy spot to enjoy after a long day of exploring. Overall, a clean, spacious, comfortable home in a great location. Great value!”

Perfect! - July 2016 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Everything was perfect! To start, the house was easy to find. I was a little worried before arriving with family and friends but it turned out much nicer than I anticipated. House was clean, fresh towels, appliances, dishes, beach gear, even a washer and dryer both up and downstairs! The jacuzzi was a plus since there was no pool. I was worried about the house not having AC but with the doors/windows open the fresh ocean breeze was perfect. I'll definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the island and I'd definitely stay here again if we come back!”
Fabulous House in a Gorgeous Area!
June 2016 ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
We stayed at Kalapana Shore House for two weeks and couldn't have been happier with the house, the owners, and the location. Our family of 6 moved into the upstairs house and enjoyed the lovely view of the lava fields and ocean each morning from the large lanai. The house was equipped with everything that we could possibly hope for and need during a stay. We absolutely adored this area of the island, from the gentle rains and mist each day, the wild mango and coconut trees everywhere to the geckos running around and the beautiful profusion of tropical plants. There was plenty of exploring to be done along the shoreline. We enjoyed the warm pools and snorkeling in the area quite often. The owners were very helpful and quick to respond if we had any questions or problems. We would highly recommend this vacation home!”
